In addition to bicycle advocacy and education, part of BikeDFW’s mission is to connect and support the greater cycling community so that we can all move together towards more and safer cycling across DFW. Thank you to Ty Ketchum, Bell Flight Data Analyst, who is a committed supporter of BikeDFW and has been instrumental in Bell Flight providing a grant in both 2020 and 2021 to BikeDFW, and in obtaining their first recognition from the League of American Bicyclists as a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business. BikeDFW was proud to be a resource in this process. Read more about Bell Flight and Ty's experience in our second installment of our North Texas Giving Day blog series.
Bell Flight, an aerospace manufacturer headquartered in Fort Worth, TX, recently earned recognition as a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business from the League of American Bicyclists. The Bicycle Friendly Business award recognizes an organization’s contributions over months and years towards the movement to build a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone. Our collaboration with BikeDFW has been instrumental in Bell’s journey to become more bicycle friendly and advancing Bell’s values of health and wellness within the communities we live.
Bell has joined the movement of over 1,400 local businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies across the United States in transforming the American workplace to be more welcoming to our customers and employees who bike. We know so many more of our employees are biking during the pandemic, and we are proud to support the health and well-being of our community by being more welcoming of those people choosing to bike.
Bell has supported local cycling efforts such as the annual CEO Ride stage of the Tour de Fort Worth presented by FitWorth with Mitch Snyder, Bell President and CEO, participating, among many other Bell employees. In 2021, Bell had a team of over 20 employees ride in the Tarrant County MS 150 ride and raised close to $10,000. Bell has also partnered with BikeDFW to support bicycle advocacy in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
In addition to community support, Bell has made it a priority to upgrade their bicycle friendly facilities with shower renovations, on-campus bicycle accessibility projects, an indoor bicycle storage facility, and locker room plans. Being located on a Trinity Railway Express stop, Bell has supported public, multi-modal transportation with our Trinity Metro EASYRIDE corporate/community partner program. Not only is Bell located on a Trinity Railway Express stop, but we are also just minutes away from the Fort Worth to Dallas Regional Trinity Trail network, making it a convenient bicycle commuter destination.
Bell has an active Bicycle Club with over 100 members across the globe. We support local rally rides as well as informal brewery rides for fun. Bell is planning its Bike to Work Day for Friday, September 24 including a “Park and Ride” solution to be inclusive of employees from across the metroplex, breakfast rally, and collaboration with local Turning Point Brewery.
We look forward to a continued partnership with BikeDFW to promote bicycle advocacy in our communities!
