“Joining this group has changed / saved my life. I used to cycle mostly by myself at River Legacy, I did a group ride once and it was the worst experience ever. It was not a beginner ride as advertised, it made me want to never do another group ride. I met up and did a group ride with BLIR and everything changed. I found the most accepting group of people at whatever skill level you are at. Made great friends that would train and help push you to your goals. I have made life long friends in this group and look forward to what the future holds for them.”

They hold regular club rides and afterparties from their brewery, where anyone is welcome and fun is bound to happen. I'm proud to wear a Community jersey for races/rides and always look forward to interactions that start with someone saying "Hey Community Beer guy!" on those rides. Corey, in particular, is a charismatic leader that has some crazy-amazing bike handling skills.”

“They have rides at all levels and actively encourage beginning riders. I re entry ride with them in a hilly route and was so scared that I would be the slowest and make them wait. Well… I was the slowest and they did have to wait but one or two more experienced riders were always with me encouraging me on. At the end of the ride everyone was encouraging, telling their stories of when they were beginners. Such a great welcoming group.”

Hangover Riders
“After riding with this group, Jaime being the leader, my life has been changed from the perspective of living a healthier lifestyle. I have seen him encourage all age groups and all ethnicities no matter if you’ve been riding for 1 week or for several years. Anyone can join. I started doing social rides. After riding several miles, we have a much deserved cold beer, hence the name of the group. He networks with local business owners helping out the local economy at the same time by giving the business much needed traffic. As of this day, several members attended a bike rally in Wichita Falls known as Hotter’N Hell that accomplished a milestone of doing a 100 mile bike run. Never to this day, I would of ever imagined of accomplishing a feat of that magnitude. It was at least 8 riders that he influenced to accomplish this goal. Much appreciated to meet a fella that has that grand of a heart.”
“Effectively communicate and organize/lead numerous group rides throughout the city. They are all inclusive and friendly regardless of experience.”
“This group started off with a very small following when the pandemic hit. Now he has close to 1000, if not more followers. People were eager to find a way to destress from the uncertainty of the moment. Lots of rides were cancelled and other bike groups stopped creating events. Jaime came in and created weekly social rides (requiring masks to be worn before and after the ride). Every week more and more people started showing up and more rides were created. He added MTB events, Gravel rides, and for those who were looking for some training rides, he created routes that would go up to 100 miles. He motivates people and pushes them to believe they can improve on their mileage. He teaches you the correct way to cycle. He helped many small business companies (taquerias, breweries, Pasos for Oak Cliff) by ending rides at their business. He loves helping out the community any way he can. This and much more is why I nominate Jaime and his Hangover Riders Bike Club!”
“Because they host several rides per week for all skill levels. I have only been riding with them for about 4 months and from day 1, they have always been welcoming and friendly. I was a novice and they always waited for me to catch up, help with a flat and just overall motivating. The friends I've met through the group encourage me to stick with it when I'm ready to give up."
