Many of the BikeDFW Board of Directors are League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) - and we all volunteer our time to teach each of the courses below. Recurrent Seasonal Classes (contact us for schedule and registration):
- Learning To Ride A Bicycle: Adult (age 13 and up)
Local instructors teach teens (13 and up) and adults to ride a bicycle. These are taught one on one, or in small groups. Students can bring their own bikes, but they MUST have hand brakes and fit properly. Don't have a bike? No problem. We have a limited number of loaner bikes that are available upon request. Students must have a proper fitting helmet for this class.

- Bicycling Skills 123: Adult (age 13 and up)
Bicycling Skills 123 Adult is composed of several parking lot drills to learn basic bicycling handling skills. You'll learn the correct way to start and stop on a bike, simple maneuvering techniques, scanning and signaling. This is a great class for those just starting out, but are not ready for Traffic Skills 101. Students must have a bicycle with hand brakes - in good working condition, and a helmet.

- Smart Cycling: Traffic Skills 101
Smart Cycling:Traffic Skills 101 gives cyclists the confidence they need to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. Through Smart Cycling, students learn how to conduct bicycle safety checks, on-bike skills, and crash avoidance techniques. We recommended this class for adults and children above age fourteen. The curriculum is fast-paced and prepares cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling. Students must have a bicycle with hand brakes - in good working condition, and a helmet.

On-Demand Classes - (based on enough requests):
- Commuting
The Commuting class if for adult cyclists who wish to explore the possibility of commuting to work or school by bike. This follow-up class to TS101 covers topics including route selection, bicycle choice, dealing with cargo and clothing, bike parking, lighting, reflection, and foul weather riding. Students must have a bicycle with hand brakes - in good working condition, and a helmet.

This class is for experienced cyclists who would like to go a on a group ride. Students should first be familiar with the techniques for riding predictably, on public roadways, as an individual - such skills as proper lane positioning and emergency bike handling. However, cycling in a group places added responsibilities on each cyclist, so all must understand and practice the principles of group riding. This class is designed to give students the principles of group riding. Students must have a bicycle with hand brakes - in good working condition, and a helmet.
