Bicycles are considered vehicles in Texas. That means cyclists must follow the same rules of the road as cars, with a few exceptions as designated in the Texas Transportation Code. Exerpts of the code that pertain to bicycles can be found at the following links.

BikeDFW works with Texas Bicycle Coalition, the League of American Bicyclists and other advocacy groups and programs.
In addition to furthering their objectives in North Texas we also...

  • Work with local entities to provide cyclist input where it is needed.
  • Work with the North Central Texas Council of Governments
  • Maintain contact with local officials, politicians and legislators.
  • Arrange an annual one day charter bus trip to Austin for the Texas Bicycle Coalition’s “Cyclists in Suits” legislative day.
  • Provide A UNIFIED voice for ALL cyclists in North Texas, no matter the demographic.
  • Work to keep local cyclists up to date on current events in North Texas affecting cyclists.
