Great Fall Cycling Events This Weekend

There are loads of cycling events in North Texas this weekend. The forecasts is for beautiful fall weather. The events are free and open to the public. There’s absolutely no reason not to get out there and have some fun on your bike! Here’s the run-down.

 

Fort Worth

October 26 –Mayor Betsy Price’s 2012 Tour de Fort Worth, 6pm – , T&P Tavern, 221 W. Lancaster Ave

The final ride of Mayor Betsy Price’s 2012 Tour de Fort Worth series takes on an eerie twist with a ride to one of Fort Worth’s oldest cemeteries—Pioneer’s Rest—where members of Historic Fort Worth Inc. will re‐enact scenes involving notable figures from Cowtown’s early years.

October 27 – LMRA Roll Out the Vote Ride, 8 AM, LMRA Facilities at 3400 Bryant Irvin Rd

The LMRA Bicycle Club (LMRABC) will be hosting the "Roll Out the Vote 2012!"; an easy paced 6.5‐mile bicycle ride from LMRA facilities on Saturday the 27th of October starting at 8:00am.

October 28 – Fall Open Streets presented by Fort Worth South , noon to 4 PM, Magnolia Ave

Stop by to see the Bike Fort Worth plan and Fort Worth Bike Sharing. Information will be available about upcoming projects. Staff from Fort Worth Bike Sharing will be available to answer all of your questions! Enjoy an afternoon of car‐free streets in the exciting Near Southside, with roadways opened up to bikes of all types, skateboarders, food trucks, yoga classes, art activities, face painting, live music, and much more. The route will include W. Magnolia Ave. from 8th Ave. to 5th Ave., then down 5th Ave. through Fairmount to Allen.

Dallas

October 27-28 - Texas Custom Bicycle Show, 10:00 AM -4:30 PM both days, Club DaDa, 2720 Elm Street  Dallas, TX 75226

An exhibition of custom bicycle frame builders from Texas’ best bike builders with styles as diverse as road, mountain, city bikes, and track bikes built with steel, titanium, and carbon. There will be something for everyone at this show!

October 27 - Halloween Cyclocross Race and Bicycle Festival, 11AM to 3 PM, Rosemont Primary School, 1919 Stevens Forest Drive, Dallas, TX 75208

Events include a “Spooky Cross” Halloween-themed cyclocross races and a Halloween Bicycle Fair. The fair will include face painting and pumpkin carving for the kids as well as plenty of activity on two wheels including a spooky fun kid’s bike rodeo, and costume bike race. The aerial crew from Richardson Bike Mart will also be coming out to thrill the crowd with their high flying bike acrobatics. BikeDFW will be there with our bicycle-powered smoothie machine.

October 28 - Spooky Cross Cyclocross Race -Part Deuce, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Dallas Heritage Village, 1515 S. Harwood Street.

The lovely Dallas Heritage Village will be hosting Spooky Cross day two. We’re teaming up with the folks at the Cedars Food Truck Park and Rahr Brewery to have an action packed, wacky day of cyclecross racing and hooliganism. Sunday racers will be encouraged to race in costume.  Those who don’t will face the wrath of fearsome & rowdy spectators.  We’ll wrap the day up with our free kids race and the adult kids costume race ($5) where hijinks are sure to ensue. Anything goes – tall bikes, tandems, unicycles as long as the rider is in costume! Prizes for best costumes and good times for all!

The Dallas events are all part of Bike Friendly Oak Cliff’s Cyclesomatic.
